It all started when…

Back in 2008 Freddy Wyatt and Chubb Tangaroa got together to work on the idea of having a major club Tournament outside of the big centers to encourage and develop softball. With their vision, financial support from Lion Breweries, The Tournament has developed into being the biggest open men’s club tournament outside of the Men’s Inter-club. In the first two years prize money was over $8000 and the winner in year one and two was Hutt Valley Cardinals. Local club Fastpitch, who originated the Tournament has won it three times, and in recent season Poneke Kilbirnie have dominated, with Porirua winning it in 2019. The Tournament is now run by the Central Vikings Softball Association with great support from the our sponsors the ISA New Zealand softball academy, www.ISA.org.nz Just Softball gear supplier www.JustSoftball.co.nz , CodeBlack NZ’s premium uniform supplier, www. CodeBlack.nz , the Hastings District Council, Hawkes Bay Softball and Umpires who make it all happened
